What to expect during In-person Reiki Healing Sessions

Treatment room with LaFuma lounger

First, you don't have to disrobe or wear any special clothing.  Just be comfortable.  Upon arrival, you'll settle into the lounge chair (a very comfortable zero-gravity lounger, designed to take all pressure off the spine), and we'll discuss anything you wish to address before we begin the session.

We normally start the session by spending 15-40 minutes discussing what you'd like to focus upon in the session, as needed.  It's usually best to pick one area or challenge that is most affecting you and then focus upon that area during the session, rather than trying to cover every single challenge in a 90 minute period.

The other areas can be specifically addressed in due time during future sessions, although whenever you bring healing to any aspect of your life, all other areas will be affected.  This is because most situations and conditions are intertwined.  As you bring healing to one, the others begin to shift and heal as well.  Even greater shifts take place when we work on each area specifically, but a general shift will still take place simply because each area of your life impacts the others to some degree.

If there's nothing you wish to discuss, or after we've spent some time addressing a particular challenge, I'll focus on the energy portion of the session.  It flows throughout, but I find it helpful to quietly center and focus specifically on the energy work alone.  This usually lasts 20-45 minutes, depending upon the length of discussion at the start of the session.  Most people like to close their eyes or wear an eye mask that I provide, so that they can relax more deeply into the energy, but it isn't required.

As I offer the healing energy, I will be sitting in a chair near to you during the session.  I do not typically place my hands upon you unless I am called to do so.  Even so, it never ceases to amaze me that many people can still tell me exactly where I am focusing my attention because they experience heat, tingling or other sensations that are the body's way of telling them it's taking in the energy and where it is focused.

It's important to know that Reiki is very powerful, but it's also very gentle.  Your body will only take in the amount that it's ready and willing to accept.  However, no conscious thought is needed - the healing will take place naturally, like breathing.  Your only "job" during a ssession is to relax, but even if you feel frazzled, no amount of "mental chatter" will interfere with the healing.

For each session, I will not only offer Reiki energy, but also do whatever I know to do or am called to do to support your healing - such as techniques based upon teachings of the Berkely Psychic Institute, as well as Shamanic journeying, healing or singing.  In this process, I often receive intuitive information that may help you to support your healing.

As this happens, I will write down the information and then share it with you at the close of the session.  Please know that I set the intention to only see or know what you are ready and/or willing to share.  I will not active search for problems or secrets.

The remainder of the session will be devoted to discussing whatever came up during the energy work.  You're  welcome to briing a recorder, so that you can better remember the intutive information that's shared.  Many people find that they are so relaxed at the end of the session that they prefer not to try & remember anything & rely, instead, on the recorder.

The greater the challenge in your life, the more frequently you may want to have sessions - as they can often facilitate shifting the current situation.  Miracles are always possible, but healing most things is a process, not an event.

More often than not, it took time to create the mental, emotional and behavior patterns that created or contributed to the imbalance that's showing up, and learning to change those patterns to support balance, wholeness and health may also take some time.

I don't prescribe specific time frames for healing.  I think everyone needs to go at their own pace.  So, whether you do weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly sessions, you are still bringing healing to whatever is happening.  However, the more often you can do sessions during challenging times, the faster you may see shifts in your condition or situation.

Many clients find benefit in coming weekly if they are experiencing challenges, then switching to monthly sessions to help sustain their health and well being.

Biomat used with in-person sessions:

I place a 17"x 33" mini-biomat on the LaFuma lounge chair for all in-person sessions, unless otherwise requested.  The Biomat is a crystal healing mat from the Richway company in Korea that is an FDA-registered healing tool for pain and stress management.

Rows of amethyst & black tourmaline crystals fill the mat which, when excited, elicit negative ions & convert their energy into far infrared light. This re-creates the powerful healing effect of negative ions that we experience when we are at the ocean, in lush forests, or at waterfalls.  The mat has variable intensity settings to create an incredibly relaxing and healing experience.

The device is EMF blocked, so it does not project an electro-magnetic field. Far Infrared light is known to penetrate deeply into the tissues and bones to increase metabolic activity directly. You may notice many positive effects, including pain relief, improved mood, and even reduced stress.

Reiki accomplishes all of this on its own.  However, I felt called to bring this tool into my practice as well, and many of my clients love it.  I think of it like the cherry on top of a wonderful sundae.

If you'd like more information on the biomat, please check out this website:  http://www.biomat.com/

Sessions last between 60-90 minutes.

Please reserve 90 minutes when scheduling.  If we don't need the time, you can be done early. However, I have found that sometimes people need more time to discuss & process things, which is why I ask that you reserve the extra time when you schedule.

After booking an appointment, I will send you directions to my home.

PLEASE NOTE (for sessions in my home):

1.  I have two wonderful cats, so if you are allergic, please take whatever you need to better manage your allergy

2.  I do not have a waiting room in my home.  If you have family or friends visiting in town, please either leave them at home or drop them off to do shopping, etc.   Sessions only last 60-90 minutes, and it will better serve you if we can focus upon you alone.

3.  If you are booking a session for a young child, please allow yourself time to stay with your child.  I can put an extra chair into the treatment room for this purpose.

If you are unable to travel, it is possible to do distance / remote sessions via phone or skype.  Because everything's made of energy, healing energy can go anywhere.  I've done sessions with people in Tokyo from my San Diego home.  To learn more about these types of sessions, please click here.

SESSION FEE:

By Donation - Payable by cash, check*, money order or credit card

Yes, I work on donation.  I trust each person to pay what they can for the value of the healing that they receive.  Surprisingly, many people are uncomfortable with paying by donation and prefer to know a payment "range".

For what I do, other practitioners charge between $100-150 per session.  Please know that whatever payment you offer (whether it's more or less than the "range") for the healing, reading or communication you receive is perfect.

*NOTE: If paying by check, please also bring a credit card

I will have you fill out a credit card authorization form that allows me to charge your card if your check is declined or returned for any reason.  I ask that you bring the card because I will verify the its information.

If your check doesn't clear for any reason, I will charge your card for the amount of the check, the bank processing fees*, and the credit card processing fee**.  I will also send you an invoice for the amount charged.  If your check clears, your card will not be charged.
